Only origin fixes the problem, but origin no longer exists

Starting yesterday I tried to open the sims, but it said there were missing or corrupted game files. It said the solution was to remove mods, and it works...but all of my progress is gone. The other solution, and the one that normally works, is to repair it on Origin, but Origin no longer exists. I've done every other weird thing the internet or my own knowledge has said I should do, and it either doesn't work at all or gives me a version of the sims where everything is completely gone. My save files are fine, none of my mods are problematic, and I hadn't done anything since the last time I successfully played the sims.

  • @ItsSouthReindeer  You can repair through the EA App too.  First, please clear its cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

Then open your game library, hover over the Sims 4 icon, click the three dots, and select Repair.

If that doesn't help, please remove your existing Mods folder and start the game to generate a new one.  Install a fresh copy of one mod that's confirmed compatible with patch 1.95, but nothing else, and see whether the game still loads.

When you say all your progress is gone, do you mean your saves are missing?  If so, please also let me know whether your saves appear in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves.  Otherwise, please describe the issue you're seeing in more detail.

  • yep this is what im getting,  ive seen some people talk about the mods being the issue, but ive literally never used a mod and am having the same issue, infact i dont even have a mods folder to move.  im kind of lost and e,a needs to do something... as it doesnt seem there is a current solution for windows. and only a halfway solution for mac

@vienolac  If you use a third-party antivirus, try disabling it temporarily and repairing the game.  As long as you don't open anything else while the antivirus is inactive, your computer should be safe.

If that doesn't help, one process that has fixed this issue for others is doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of Sims 4 and the EA App.

    • Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
    • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

I don't have instructions for using Revo to uninstall the EA App, but the process should be straightforward.  Restart again when you're done, install the EA App, and create a new folder into which you'll install Sims 4.  Put it on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games.  Choose that folder when installing Sims 4.
