Optimal ssd/hdd for ts4?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I’m looking for a laptop that can play the sims 4 (and all expansions) on high/ultra settings.

from what I’ve gathered, I need a Nvidia 1060 card, 16gb ram, and more than 256gb ssd. (Preferably 500-1tb)

my question is, do I need more than 500gb ssd if it has a +1tb hdd?

for example, I am seeing some cheaper options with only 128gb ssd +1tb hdd. Would that be sufficient? Or would it be better to spend the money and get a single 500gb-1tb ssd? (Or still plus 1tb hdd?)

A 120GB SSD is pretty small but is doable if you take great care in not installing too much on it (Windows and some smaller programs) everything else on a secondary HDD. Better is a bigger SSD where you also have space for your more demanding programs and games plus a secondary hdd for storage and backups. For critical backups you should also consider an external drive.

  • Thank you! I currently have a few external hard drives, but I think if I’m “upgrading” my laptop it’s better to go bigger like you said. Thanks!
