Patients not showing symptoms

My sim is a doctor (Level 9) and has to successfully diagnose and treat 5 sims in order to be promoted, however, the patients are either showing no symptoms or one really common symptom, which can be seen for several illnesses (e.g. orange and green spots) so it doesn't help me diagnose the illness. I run all of the available examinations and refer the patients for x-rays and treadmill tests but the choice is narrowed down to either two or three illnesses, which I cannot choose between because there are no visible symptoms!

The patients also appear standing at the end of the bed after every examination and I have to wait for the patient to walk back to the bed before I can carry out any more examinations.

Is anyone else having these problems?

    PC and no, I do not have any mods installed.

    Haven't really played since the patch but symptoms have always been rare for me and sometimes it's a real lottery. 


    Was it much better for you before ?

    The resetting is a known issue and no solution atm other than using a mod.

    It's definitely gotten worse but it's never really been great. So annoying because I like the career but it's just become annoying to play.

    Since it's rather unplayable as is, I can't really do any test to see if the symptom thing has gotten worse
