Re: After an update all households are gone / games deleted(?)

I moved slot_0000001.save to the desktop but nothing happend in the game. Just the normal starting scren with no option to go back to my old house, just the option to creat new ones.

I just moved the file to the desktop, is that right? Or do i have to do something else as well? I can't load the files either.

Can you zip up your saves folder and upload to some file sharing site then PM me the link.

OK, took a quick look at it seems it's the slot_00000006.save that's corrupt.

What you need to do is move that out to the desktop and then rename slot_00000006.save.ver0 to slot_00000006.save (could be a 0 more or less).

After that you should be able to see your saves again. It might not be the newest but it at least works.

I moved slot_00000006.save.ver0 to the desktop and renamed it slot_00000006.save

Went back into the game and still the same. Where would i be able to see my saves even? Do I have to move the file back into the folder after renaming it? Or keep it on the desktop?

(The game is still giving me the option to only create new household as well as telling me that my games needs to be updated to access my saves even though i just uodated it)

No sorry if I didn't explain clearly enough

you move slot00000006.save to the desktop and then rename slot0000006.save.ver0 to slot000006.save (you basically remove the faulty save game and make the backup active)

Did you make a new save by accident ? A lot has changed since this thread was made so I suggest, to make your own thread and giving us as much details as to what is happening in your game as you can.
  • It doesnt work for me.All my households are deleted and when i go to create a new one a blue box appears in my funds(witch are alos 0 so i cant buy nothing)

    @miliotiskostas

What did you try that didn't work?

Are your families in the Library or Manage households?

    How to check this:

Library - From the Main Menu, click the photos icon up in the upper right corner of the screen. From there look for the My Library tab.

Manage Household - Click the Load Game button and select a saved game. At the Map screen in the upper right you should see a silhouette of two people and a pen, click that to see what families are in that saved game.

Are they in either of those places?

  • Hi Crin,

    I'm having the same issue.
How can you tell which file is corrupt?

  • i don’t know how long ago this was but i tried doing his and it didn’t work.  for my slots with the 6 there were three instead of two does that cause an issue?? should i now change the 1 with the 0 like i did for the other one?

  • How did you determine which save was corrupted? I'm having this same issue, and I'm wondering if one of my saves is the problem.

@thatrandomuser1  Typically, when one save is corrupt, you can still load the others.  If that's not the case, remove all the saves from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves and then put one back, and see if it loads.  If it doesn't, remove it and try a different save.

The files with a .verx on the end are backups, so try the main saves first.  If none of them load, you can remove the .verx extension from a backup and try to load it instead.  You'll also need to renumber the save so it doesn't have the same name as any other.  The number needs to be eight digits long and in hexidecimal format: consisting of only the digits 0 to 9 and/or the letters a to f.
