Re: Crashes Randomly within build mode or live mode.

I've looked through the forum and haven't found a solution yet. After the new update I get random crashes on any of my old or new caved games. My game is connected to steam now but before I tried the repair it but it didn't work. I'm out of ideas.

loislanenetwork  What worlds and lots are you playing in when the game crashes?  Does it run better in one of the base game worlds, with no content from the Gallery or your own library?  Please test if you haven't already, and let me know.

Most of the crashes in your dxdiag are generic Windows errors that may not mean anything.  But the fact that they're happening frequently enough to crowd out the Sims 4 crashes could be concerning.  So please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Please also let me know whether the game runs better when your computer is offline.  You can sign into Steam and the EA App and put them in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before launching the game.  At least I think you can play offline in Steam, but I haven't tested or heard either way lately.

It crashes less on the older packs like pets, or vampires but Crashes a lot on the new life or death or businesses packs. I don't use CC or mods anymore because of this, but I use to have mods installed. I will try this and get back to you on the results.

So I did all listed above and here are the results: There is nothing wrong after I did the sfc /scannow and restarted my computer, when online crashed immediately. I went offline and I have played 30 minutes without a crash. I'm happy that no crashes but I guess this means I can't play online? Sims isn't a multiplier game so I guess I can keep it offline if there are no other ways to solve this.

Edit: On offline, it crashed after 45 minutes.

loislanenetwork  As another test, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  (You can keep declining until you're asked some security questions instead.)  You'll be able to launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other data won't be available.

Try it first with your computer online, then offline if the game crashes.

The idea here is to see whether the issue is limited to your main account or is more global.  Either way, we have a better idea of where to look next.

I have updates! It crashes still on other administrator users on my computer but doesn't crash at all on my laptop! Like no crashes at all on the laptop 100% usable. It now crashes more offline than online but the crashes come in hour intervals online, and every 20 minutes offline. This is getting more stressful than I thought it should be. Any advice will help.

loislanenetwork  That's very odd.  Do the crashes happen if you just leave the game paused, or if you let the clock run but don't interact with it (i.e. your sims are doing their thing without input)?  And I'd like to see the types of crashes you're getting.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

Please post the most recent three or four crashes, or just one example if they're all identical.

Please also let me know if you're able to connect your desktop PC to your phone, set as a mobile hotspot and using data rather than your home wifi.  Your computer does have a wireless LAN driver installed, and this wouldn't use much data if you were just connecting to the EA App and playing, but I know not everyone has this option.  The reason I ask is because it kind of sounds like the game is trying to connect in some way, and failing, and crashing as a result.  Why this happens more often offline than online, or frankly why it happens offline at all, is a mystery.

One other test you can do is to disable Online Social Features, under Options > Game Options > Other.  This is supposed to be inactive when the EA App is in offline mode, but perhaps that's not the case.

loislanenetwork  The python37_x64.dll errors point to an issue with high-end Intel processors that's been around for over a year.  One thing that can help is updating the motherboard's BIOS, so please do that now.  I think this is your board:

    https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B760M-C-rev-10/support

But double-check yourself.  The model number should be printed on the board, and in the manual, and in other locations.  Google "[board model] drivers" and look for the Gigabyte support page.

If that doesn't help, disable CPU Turbo Boost in the BIOS, which should be somewhere under Advanced Settings.  But I'm not sure it's there at all, so don't worry if you don't find anything with "Turbo" in the name; this class of board may not have it.
