@sarahkate513  This is how to clear Origin's cache, in case you want to check your work:

Restart your computer after you've done it.  If the download still fails, clear Origin's cache and restart your computer again, and then try repairing the game instead: right-click on the Sims 4 icon in your Origin library and select Repair.

If this doesn't help either, try setting an exception for Origin.exe in your antivirus/firewall.  You might need to set one for TS4_x64.exe too, although that wouldn't seem necessary just for the update process.

    @puzzlezaddict I followed all the steps to clear the cache. When I open up Origin, it automatically begins to 'repair' the game, saying 'verifying game files.' The game hasn't even installed, it doesn't say there are any updates. But the download still failed.

    I'll try and restart my PC again, and if that doesn't work, I'll try the firewall thing you said and let you know how that goes.

    @sarahkate513  If changing the firewall settings didn't help, please disable auto updates in Origin.  Hover over your username, select Application Settings, and under Application (the first header), scroll down to Client update and disable auto game updates.  Then clear Origin's cache again, restart your computer, and see whether you can download the game rather than Origin trying to repair.

    If not, you can use a tool like Revo Uninstaller or Piriform's CCleaner to find and remove all Sims 4-related content from your computer.  If you have any content that you'd like to save, please rename the Sims 4 user data folder in Documents\Electronic Arts, so it doesn't get flagged.
