Do you know some ways to fix this error? I fixed the MSVCP140.dll error and the VCRUNTIME140.dll error and then the 0xc000007b error popped up.
I originally had the error codes mentioned below and so I went onto microsoft and downloaded the necessary files but now get the error code 0xc000007b.
I have the same issue, I had those two at first but after installing both files I now get the error code that it can't star up properly.
Disclaimer: I am not a super technical person, and I just need help figuring out how to make my game work again! Please please help if you know how to explain things to someone who doesn't know what they are doing haha.
Every time I try to open the Sims 4 I get the following error message:
TS4_x64.exe Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0x000007b). Click OK to close the application.
And that's it. It just won't even try to run. I have tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it, and I get the same message. I updated Origin, and made sure my PC had all the most recent updates. I restarted my PC. Not sure what else to try - that's where my nerd level tops out and I don't know what to do haha.
@sbl3456I heard that people worldwide are experiencing some similar issues with error codes. It could be a problem with Origin.
- @sbl3456 Did you edit the compatibility of the software you are trying to use?
- @JanssJS Hi! I'm having the same issue too. I've actually figured out some ways that may help you. Try running some compatibility tests, you can also do a scan to see if the problem shows up. Basically, a 32 bit is trying to mix with the 64-bit game. Did you have the MSVCP140.dll error and the VCRUNTIME140.dll error? Most of us are receiving those errors and when we fix them we get the dreaded 0x000007b error. Downloading new dll files is very dangerous as they may be corrupt so I would not suggest doing so.
@JanssJS It seems as people are receiving these error codes with the latest Sims 4 update and Origin update. I also have some other ways and can explain the compatibility tests and scans for you if you need it! I hope I can be of some help.
- @DizzyN3wt No, I'm not sure what that means actually haha. I did recently install an ad blocker program, that is the only thing I can think of that I've done differently at all on my computer.
@JanssJSBasically many of us have been experiencing problems with our dll files when trying to open a specific program or software. The program needs it to function but you don't seem to be receiving those errors. Would you mind right-clicking the windows icon and going to "System" then scrolling down until you find what kind of bit computer you have. You will either have a 32 bit or a 64 bit.
- @DizzyN3wt x64 bit
- @JanssJS Okay thanks. Are you able to open Origin? If so click the game properties and try switching to the other edition of the game.
- @JanssJS The opposite edition will either be a 32 bit or a 64 bit, depending on if you play Legacy or Digital Deluxe.
- @JanssJS If that does not work, check windows for updates. That can be found in the search bar by the windows icon by typing "Check for Updates".
- @JanssJS sera que teremos que esperar alguma nova atualização, pq funcionava normal, atualizei e parou. Ja reparei, deletei, reinstalei... ai que saco kkkk
Did you installed the game own Vc++ libraries or did you downloaded them from Microsoft?
- @JanssJS I ran a hard scan of my drive and then reinstalled the game. It works now!
hey, how did you fix your game? I have the same problem and I can't find a way
Hi, I recently had the same problem following this update. I had to go through all my mods and make sure that they were updated otherwise I came across the error code. However, when I put my saved games back in the folder the error code started to pop back up. So, after trying literally everything I just came to a decision to delete my saved games and start over. Ever since I haven't gotten the error code again.

Hi! I fixed my game by doing a hard scan of my drive, restarting my PC, and waiting until the next day. I had been receiving errors before that I fixed MSVCP140.dll and VCRUNTIME140.dll. I fixed those and then received the same error that you are getting. Do not download new dll files from the internet as they may be corrupted. I can walk you through any steps you may need.- @DizzyN3wt can you explain "hard scan" for me pls?
@lindseycSure!
I have a link that will explain it better than I can:www.lifewire.com/how-to-scan-a-hard-drive-using-error-checking-2624497
Alternatively, you can try:

If these don't work let me know! I can try and help some other way.- @DizzyN3wt thanks! I've tried everything and my game still won't launch.. super frustrated
- @lindseyc What have you tried so far? It took me a full week to get mine running again so I feel your pain.
