According to the first link you gave me.
http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/backups/
I just copy "C:\Users\#USERNAME#\Documents\Electronic Arts\Sims 4".
The next link, is exactly same but with "C:\Program FIles (x86)\Origin Games\Sims 4".
So, if I copy these, then I'm technically safe?

By clicking on the white XP button next to the blue box on the post that helped you.
To keep your Sims, the user files are most important (link to my blog). So just copy the folder in documents and then just put it back after reinstalling.
The installation files is just to save time and to not have to download the whole 9 GB again. If you like to install from disc, that doesn't apply to you.
