@Calamitygrlgreen Please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
And disable Game Mode and Game Bar, both under Windows Settings > Gaming.
Finally, please only play with the laptop plugged in, and make sure it's set to use the Nvidia graphics card for Sims 4. Open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings, click Browse, find TS4_x64 on the list, and choose the high-performance option. Do the same for TS4_DX9_x64 as well so you can switch to DirectX 9 as needed.
All of this covers what I see in your dxdiag, but I'd also like to know what the exact problem is that you're seeing. This thread has reports of a few similar but possibly unrelated issues, so I want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything.
If you can get to the Main Menu but can't load your save, please let me know whether you can start a new save instead, and whether using Load Game and choosing a different household within one of your old saves works.
