Re: How Do I Get Old Version of Game Back?

@GucciKat  All your user-generated and -downloaded content is saved in the Sims 4 folder that you moved to your desktop, but the game can't read it because the folder isn't in Documents\Electronic Arts anymore.  That's fine though—you can put the files inside, or the entire folder, back later.  For now though, how does the game run?  Please test in a new save with no mods or cc added and let me know.  It's more important right now to see whether the crashing is caused by a problem with your saves or cc, or an issue on your computer itself.

If you still get crashing, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

The game works without crashing now, i assume it was my cc or something. I still don't know what to do about my old game since the new one was moved to Documents/Electronic Arts but it still showed on my desktop so i deleted it on my desktop and its not a big deal if I cant get it back, just years of progress gone.

@GucciKat  If you deleted the folder on your desktop and emptied the recycle bin, then sorry, it and all the old saves inside are gone.  On the other hand, if you trashed the folder but didn't empty the recycle bin, you can get it back now.  Go into that Sims 4 folder, open the Saves folder, and move the saves inside to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves.  Be sure to delete or rename any new saves you have, so nothing gets replaced or overwritten.

And yes, it sounds like it was in fact your cc that was causing the problem.  That often happens after a patch.

The folder I recycled was the new one with the new restarted game, but its alright I can just start over. Thank you, sorry if this was confusing, its a mistake on my part!

@GucciKat  Okay then, do you have any Sims 4 game folders besides the one in Documents\Electronic Arts?  Look inside, in the Saves folder, and see if your old saves are there.  Then move them inside Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves, and those saves will be read by the game again.
