@brittsNAY01  I take it you're referring to forums.thesims.com?  The thread may be old, but the rules are still in place—you need to be a member (not a new member) before you can start discussions, post links, and a bunch of other stuff.  For that, you need 25 points and 15 posts, and an account that's more than 24 hours old.  Since your account is six years old, you probably have the points just from the anniversary badges, but you still need to get your post count up.

I know it's frustrating, but under the old setup, the official forums were repeatedly flooded with spam and worse.  So it's a tradeoff that most members are happy to make.  I'm sure there are plenty of existing threads you could post in; try Off-Topic chat if you're looking for options.
