Re: NPCs stand on corner of lot, but never enter lot

It happened in one "saved game" (if that's the right word for it).  In that game, it happened to every lot in every neighborhood.  

I eventually just created a new game and everything works fine there.

Is there a way to debug the old save?

@nolagal54  In the old save, try saving one lot to the library, bulldozing it, and placing the library copy.  Let me know whether this works.  If it doesn't, try bulldozing it and then placing an entirely different building on the lot instead, maybe something taken from a new save in a different world, just to be thorough.

You said you don't use mods, but please let me know whether you use custom content, and if so, please test without it, at least for now.

@puzzlezaddict   I tried your suggestion.  So far it is working.  But I have to admit that I'm starting to see the same symptoms in the new game I created.  Had a party,  Half the guests came in, half the guests stayed at the corner of the lot until "called over".  The maid stayed outside each day until called over.  After a few days, she started coming inside on her own.  As far as custom content goes, no I don't have any.

@nolagal54  That's pretty strange, and to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure what's going on.  Please test again in a new save after the patch tomorrow (or later today, depending on where you live), and if the problem resurfaces, post back and let me know.

@puzzlezaddict   Last week decided that the laptop was sluggish and decided to reset the whole thing.  Did not backup anything.  Had to completely reinstall origin, the game and the packs.   Installed the patch and then repaired the game.  Everything worked fine over the weekend.  Tonight, the maid stands on the corner, will not come in, and still charges $160.  

Hi @nolagal54 - Could you share a screenshot of the lot traits where this is happening?

Just throwing some ideas out there - Have you done modifications to the buildings where they can't enter? (Sometimes, the foundation can be too high and they can't get in without steps) Same with the doors - make sure they're not locked to visitors, and try selling the existing doors and replacing with a different one. 

@BlackjackWidowHi.  The screenshots are attached to my original post.  The first one is a group of people who were supposed to be patrons of a gym I built.  Only thing was that they all kept gathering at the corner of the lot and would not go any further.  It started with one or two people and then the number kept growing.  The second screenshot is the gardener who would not go into the house but would only stand on the corner.  

No modifications have been done.  Before I did the complete reinstall, some of the houses/buildings were single story with flat foundations, others are multi-story with raised foundations and stairs.  The doors are not locked unless somehow programming made them locked by default.  I will double check when I get home just to test.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, after I did the complete reinstall it worked fine for 3 days.  It was only yesterday that this peculiar thing started happening again.

When I reinstalled, I did not save any of the games that I had been playing.  Essentially I've started from scratch.

@nolagal54 - I did see the screen shots in your 1st post, thanks for the additional info, too👍 I was hoping to see a screenshot of your lot traits (from build/buy)

The reason is there's a reported bug about lot types changing from residential to different types, and sometimes the traits change, too. This could account for things being ok for a while, and then suddenly having an issue. For instance, by design, generic lot types don't have visitors. 

So, when you're able to check, take a look at the lot type & traits, too, just in case this happened to you. Also, if you used the same door as the front door on all of your builds, try deleting them & using a different one. Just hoping to eliminate the particular door from the equation. 

@BlackjackWidow Dumb question.  How do I screenshot the lot traits?  When I do a capture within the game, even though the traits are on the screen, they don't appear in the screenshot.  

To answer your basic question, the lot is still residential.  I did not set any traits for it and it still does not have any traits.  I tried the door suggestion (bought a new one).  That didn't help.  Maybe I'll try just opening up that wall so that there's a gaping hole there. 

@BlackjackWidow   Just for the fun of it, I built a house on a lot, but instead of placing doors I left off 3 wall segments on the front and on the back of the house.  The maid walked right in.  The welcome wagon walked right in too.  Victor Feng wanted to visit.  He stood on the corner of the lot.

I'll try to get the lot traits tomorrow.

I'm posting screenshots, just because I said I would.  But I'm also happy to report that after the last update late last week, all of the employees are coming into the houses and doing their jobs.  Also, just for grins and giggles, I'm posting screenshots of the guy who was at work, but wasn't at work, who didn't own the restaurant, but did own the restaurant and did all of the management functions.
