Re: Sims 4 Crashing/Freezing/Lag, Surface Pro 3/7

I have been having this problem for about a week. The game launches and acts as if it's not responding, then freezes on the loading screen. When I exit out to task manager it will change to the next screen, but when I come back, I cannot control the game at all. My cursor stays frozen on the screen once I am back in the game and I have to force quit the game. I have uninstalled, repaired, updated, cleared cache, deleted files, launched in windowed mode, and adjusted my resolution in the game files in attempt to fix this.

Hi there, I have been having the exact same problem as this since the update at the beginning of December. I have tried repairing the game, moving mods out of folder, moving the whole Sims folder out of the EA folder, uninstalling and reinstalling. The only thing that worked for about a week, was uninstalling and reinstalling, but that seems to have failed now as well. Feeling really frustrated with the amount of money I have spent on this game over the past 10 years or so.

mjfr4f32p03a  If you haven't already, please please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.

If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

opulent_pebble  Please try another clean folder now, and if it doesn't work, provide a dxdiag.
