Re: Sims 4 is crashing my computer

@ttsaori  Sorry for the late reply; I was busy and needed to do some research on the error in your crash dump.  It's a memory management error, but as it turns out, it points to the page file, which means the issue is more likely the page file or the drive itself.  It could still be the RAM; that's just lower on the list of possibilities.

Before doing anything else, please check the SATA cable for your 860 Evo on both ends.  It would be best to unplug the drive, blow out the connectors with compressed air, and reseat the cables, making sure everything is secure.  If you're not sure exactly what you'd be working with, let me know and I can try to find a diagram, but it should be simple enough to find the Evo inside the case.  The cable in question is the one that connects the drive to the motherboard, not to the power supply.

Once you've done that, please run chkdsk on C to make sure there's nothing wrong with the drive itself.

  • Hit Windows key-X
  • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
  • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste "chkdsk /f /r c:" without quotes, and enter
  • You'll be asked to allow a restart; say yes
  • When the scan is done, use this guide to find the results

You should be able to attach the report to a post as well.  Running chkdsk will take some time, so you may want to leave it while you're doing something else.

The above assumes you haven't moved the page file to your other drive, but if you have, please do the above for both the C and D drives.  Let me know what chkdsk comes up with, and we can go from there.
