Re: Sims 4 Legacy Edition - How do you uninstall it?

I’ve never had an issue running the game but as of a few days ago it told me I had to download legacy, so I did but after checking, my windows laptop has everything and more needed to run the 64bit version. I have bought all packs released after the cut off for legacy so I’ve lost all of them. is there a way to get rid of legacy so I can go back to how it was?  I don’t get the option under advanced launch options to change to a 64bit so I don’t know how to go about it! Would really appreciate any help!

@charlotted05 Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?

    - Press Windows-Key + R
    - Type: DxDiag
    - Click on Save all Information.
    - Attach the Text File to your post

Hi! I'm not sure if anyone will be able to see this but i hope they can. About a month ago i installed legacy edition because it said i needed it. After searching about it i realized i don't need it. I went onto an ea help page and managed to get rid of it. Within that month it happened again and said 'mods have been disabled.' I repaired my game then went onto game properties, then advance launch options and changed it from '32 bit' to a '64 bit'. Then it started working again. It's been a couple of weeks since then and it's happened again. I repeated the same steps but it didn't work! Also it says on 'documents' that i don't have it but i do! Sorry if I'm not making any sense. I went onto the game and it said mods disabled as something isn't being supported or something which is exactly what it said last time this happened. I thought i got rid of legacy edition but apparently not. I love the sims 4 and have spent hundreds of pounds on this game and I'm really upset that it wont go back now. Can someone please please help. From reading previous comments, they wanted a dxdiag attached. I did one of them so I'll attach it in a different comment.

@DiamondDemon3  The most common reason for Origin to try to download or run the Legacy Edition on a computer that doesn't need it is an antivirus program blocking or even deleting TS4_x64.exe, which runs the 64-bit version of the game.  Repairing puts the .exe back, at least as long as the antivirus doesn't block that process too.

So the first step to try is to repair and then set exceptions in your antivirus for TS4_x64.exe and Origin.exe.  If that doesn't work, you may need to disable your antivirus while repairing.

It's also worth noting that your hard drive has very little free storage.  While having only 9 GB free isn't likely to cause significant issues in everyday use, it might while gaming, and it definitely will the next time Windows wants to install a feature update.  So it's best to clear another 10 GB or so, for a total of 20.

@DiamondDemon3  I don't think you necessarily need to delete your antivirus, but temporarily disabling it to test may help.  How to do so depends on the specific program though.  You should be able to find instructions on the support website for the antivirus.  Or, if you let me know which one it is, there might already be a post on this site with instructions for preventing it from blocking Sims 4.

Ok I'll change the settings. Once I have changed/added the settings can i just launch 'Sims 4' or do I have to repair it first? Thank you so much for your help 🙂

OH wait sorry, I haven't added links to avast from this help website, I've added them from the help section called 'cc keeps disabling itself'. Which you kindly helped me with on there too
