Re: Sims 4 loading screen white and not responding

@mrfuzzlezz  Try disabling Origin in-game: hover over your username, select Application Settings, then the Origin in-game header, and disable the option at the top.

If that doesn't help, try playing in a clean user data folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to this folder, just see whether you can get far enough to start a new game and play for a bit.  Let me know either way.

If you can't play even with a clean folder in place, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@puzzlezaddict I’m sorry, I forgot to say that I can play it just takes a long while for the game to load to the menu because the screen turns white and it says not responding. I tried disabling Origin in-game and it still does it but it load a little better. I’ve already taken out my entire sims folder many times and it still does nothing.

@mrfuzzlezz  Your computer's hard drive still has plenty of space, so it's not that you have a lot of data on it.  But if you have a number of apps open when you launch the game, or even background processes, that could slow down loading to the point where Windows flags the game as not responding.  Your laptop's hardware is on the weaker side for Sims 4, and although you should still be able to play, having anything else running at the same time will hurt performance.

Try playing in a clean boot.  This is supposed to disable everything except for Windows processes and crucial drivers.  It's still a good idea to go through the Task Manager and manually shut down any other non-Windows processes that might still be running—some of them don't get disabled in a clean boot.

If you still get an error, please look for related entries in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes.  You'll see a list of errors and updates, with a column for each day.  (Today is all the way on the right.)

You're looking for any errors that happened while you were trying to load Sims 4.  It's often difficult to figure out which ones those might be if they don't mention Sims 4 or Origin, especially because the timestamp in the initial chart can be off by an hour or so.  But the timestamp in the details page should be accurate.  Click "View technical details" to see it, and if the time matches, copy the information and paste it into a text document.  (Notepad is fine.)  You can attach the file to a post as you did with your dxdiag.

You may also need to wait an hour or two for the most recent errors to show up in the Reliability Monitor.

By the way, one of the reasons I'm asking for this extra info is that the errors in your dxdiag may all be unrelated to Sims 4.  This is a more precise way of finding the relevant errors.

Sorry, it's been a while but here. I am also having another problem. I don't know if I should make another topic but it happens while I am playing. The game will say not responding and then something pops up and says memory could not be found and it closes.

@mrfuzzlezz  This site's virus scanner seems busted right now, so attached files can't be read.  Could you please either copy and paste the text into a reply (use a spoiler tag if it's long) or upload it somewhere else and link it?  It would also be good to see a new dxdiag, since you have a new error.  And of course using this thread is fine, since it's all on the topic of your game not running on this particular computer.

@mrfuzzlezz  This error is an access violation, meaning the game tried to access memory in a way that's not permitted.  The underlying cause could be the game install itself or any number of resources it uses.  The first step to try is repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.

If that doesn't help, try playing in a clean user data folder: no mods or cc, no old saves.  Move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and a clean folder will spawn when you launch the game.  Don't add anything to it yet; just see whether you can play a new save without any errors.  Let me know either way.

If you do get more crashes, I'd like to see a new dxdiag, so I can take a closer look.

I played for a few hours without anything in my game and it works but when I put my mods back in it took a while but it did it again. Sometimes it doesn't show the message like it did this time.

It won't let me post the entire dxdiag so what section do I need to send since the sites virus scanner is not working.

@mrfuzzlezz  If the game works without your mods but crashes with them, then the issue is your mods.  Unfortunately, there's no way to tell which ones are fine and which are not, other than to test.  If you have a lot of mods, you can try the 50/50 method here:

    https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content#The_50.25_Method

Since the site's virus scanner isn't working, you can instead upload the dxdiag to a third-party free filesharing site and link it here.  But it's not necessary unless you get a crash with no mods present at all.
