Have you tried leaving some in their inventory? It wont spoil like normal. Notice that if you prepare food/drink with it, this will spoil.

Its in their inventory but they just want to 'Drink Uncontrollably'.

The neither drink from plasma fruit not from the plasma packets on their own ? No matter if you have them in the fridge or the inventory ?
The sim i've just tested on is a guilty drinker, thought that would be helpful.
He just automatically drank 2 plasma packs when they were in his inventory, thanks! You earned XP :D
However I would like to see them drinking from plasma fruit automatically, that would be very helpful.
