Did you create them yourself ? This usually happens if you edit traits on existing SIms via the fulleditcas cheat..

The one getting the Geek buff I created never gave him the Trait and the other one Never had the Dance trait and he started getting a buff to it.
Can you try the cheat to give it to him and then remove:
- traits.equip_trait
- traits.remove_trait
The name of the traits
- Geek
- Dancemachine <-- just a guess, could be different
