Re: (Solved) Sims 4 - Packs downloaded, but coming up as unavailable within the game

@arcadekitten  Please try changing the additional AVG settings listed here:

https://crinrict.com/blog/2020/10/add-exceptions-to-anti-virus-programs.html#avast

Your dxdiag also shows a few errors related to the audio driver.  So if the above doesn't help, you may need to update the driver.  Go here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops

Enter your laptop's serial number, choose your OS if necessary, and you'll land on the download page for your laptop.  Please either run an auto-update or auto-detect function, if one is available, or download and install the newest audio/sound driver and the newest Intel graphics driver.  Restart your computer afterwards.

If you're not sure which driver(s) to download, feel free to link the site here, and I'll take a look.  The download page doesn't have any information about your own computer, just the overall model.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you again for your reply! I have now further updated my AVG settings, but the HP website leaves me a bit stuck. I was brought to this page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-15-bp000-x360-convertible-pc/15551145/model/16748359?sku=1KS73UA&ssfFlag=true

And although I was asked if I would like the site to auto-search for drivers, it seems to just load and load and load, for at least over 20 minutes and with no end in sight. When I click on the "all drivers" tab, the most recent drivers available for download are from 2018, and even if I do try to install them Windows tells me that the drivers I currently have are newer than the ones I wish to install.

I haven't attempted to start up the game since and test anything.

Thank you again for your assistance!

@arcadekitten  Yup, unfortunately HP doesn't offer any newer graphics or audio drivers for your computer than what you already have installed.  You can still update through Windows though.  Hit Windows key-X, choose the Device Manager, expand the display adapters section, click on your graphics chip (Intel HD 620), and click the black and green Update button at the top of the window.  If anything installs, restart your computer, then repeat the process for all of the entries in the audio and sound tabs.  Restart again, then try to play.

Even if nothing installs, it won't harm your computer to run Sims 4; it's just that your dxdiag contains a few errors related to the audio driver, and it and the graphics driver are three years old now (and often bundled together, hence the need to try to update each one).  It's possible that changing the AVG settins will be enough, but if not, disable AVG, run another repair, and reenable it.

Oh my goodness, FINALLY! Thank you so much! It worked!

For anyone in the future reading this who needs full context:

I looked for more Windows updates as described, found one, and updated. Again, still no changes.

I opened Sims again because my AVG settings had been changed, again, still no changes.

So I followed the rest of the instructions left by @puzzlezaddict . I disabled my AVG entirely, repaired the game again, and then started the Sims. All my packs are here again and working fine!

Thank you SO much again for all the help, I wouldn't have been able to do it without you!
