Re: The Sims 4 is listed twice in my storage. One is using 24.9 GB

Hey @gnthomas97 where are you seeing these files installed?

It could be that one folder is the base game and the other is your user files.

If they are your user files then deleting them would remove all saves and associated info.

  • When I go to ‘storage’ in my settings, it’s listed under ‘Apps & games’

@gnthomas97  Are you on a Mac, and if so, have you patched the game in the last two days?  (The was a patch released on Tuesday at 10 am Pacific time.)  Please take a screenshot of what you're seeing.

And please let me know whether you have all or most packs installed.  You don't need to list them, just a ballpark figure, e.g. all EPs, all GPs except two, and half the SPs will do.

No, I have an HP laptop. And I don't have any packs at all. I do use CC, but not 15 GB worth.

@gnthomas97  The 15 GB entry is the actual game, and the other one is the one that shouldn't be there.  It's also not your user data, which wouldn't appear in the list of apps at all.  If you just want to uninstall it and be done, click on it and select Uninstall.  Just in case something goes wrong though, back up your user data folder (the Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts) first.

If you'd like to figure out where this entry is coming from, open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left sidebar, and search for "The Sims 4."  You'll see your user data folder, and any backups you've made; the game's program files, likely in Program files (x86)\Origin Games; look for any other entries.  If it's easier, you can take a screenshot of the search results.  You can also open the folder(s) from there and go poking around.
