Re: Will this desktop work for Sims games?

@jodi12581  Is this budget for both the laptop and desktop combined?  If so, is there a reason you need two computers rather than one?  I ask because $300 isn't enough to find a new laptop or desktop that would run Sims 4 even on medium settings.  Used computers can be cheaper, if you know how to look.  But $500 is more than enough for one good computer.

It's for each one.  I know you can't get a good one for cheap

@jodi12581  For the desktop, would you be willing to get a refurbished system?  This one is $600 (with free shipping) and is a proper gaming PC, capable of running Sims 4 on ultra graphics settings with some room to spare:

CyberpowerPC is system integrator: it builds custom orders and also sells some pre-built systems with the leftover components.  So you're getting the same type of hardware you'd get with a custom build, just without the choice o components.

This option is $100 cheaper and has a  significantly slower graphics card, but you could probably still play on ultra graphics settings, certainly on a mix of high and ultra settings at the very least.

This is a bit faster and the same price:

I'm not seeing anything else in this category—the other sub-$600 systems I've found only have integrated graphics chips, the best of which are still less than half as fast, on average, as the RX 6400 in the second system above.  If you don't like any of these options, I'd suggest asking again in a week or so when more Black Friday deals are available.

For the laptop, do you want a gaming system or not?  This is the only one I'm currently seeing for $600 or less, although again, Black Friday sales have only just started.  This would run all current Sims 4 content on ultra graphics settings:

If you don't want a gaming laptop, there are a lot more options that can handle medium-high to high graphics settings; just let me know, and I'll have a look around.
