The questions marks a actually just a symptom just like black Sims. The game is looking for a texture that it can't find and is unable to replace it with something else and just displays a placeholder skin.
In your case it sounds like it was outdated cc skins that cause it. Did you remove them all ?
If so, try taking the affected Sims to CAS and replace their skin with a game one. Does that work ?

@ChampagneBurstIf repairing doesn't work, the it's probably a cc issue.

Thank you. I think I found the skin. The artist says it’s up to date but clearly wasn’t because it must have become default to affect everyone in town EXCEPT those with another skin. Now everyone looks normal. Need to clear the thumbnail cache to get rid of red and white. But your advice was spot on. I think it was just the one but will keep systematically triple checking.
Problem is I’m still getting the 123 error that I assumed was part of the same issue. Plus I’ve just done something stupid. I just clicked ok and kept playing - initially just to explore the skin issue was fixed. Forgot and clicked save before going to managed worlds.
About to save current copies of families and have a back up but from when still had error code.
From my understanding this is caused by out of date mods?
The only mod I have in is the Feb release of MCCC. EXCEPT a mystery mod I’ve been trying to hunt down for months that must be attached to some eye makeup.
Could this be the cause?
It auto removes the ea lashes of every single sim in the game. It’s not Kikijo’s “remove Ea eyelashes” because that’s not in my mods anymore and so far I removed everything I could find that said lashes. I’ll try removing the whole make up folder next start up.
Am I on the right track or following a red herring?
Any ideas of where else to look for items that might have scripting?
Or a better way of solving 123 error?
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@ChampagneBurst 123 is usually caused by a mod, yes.
I can't tell you what it's causing it though as it's multiple different ones.
Use the 50/50 method: http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content to hunt down the issue to narrow down what's causing it.- 6 years ago
I’m really super grateful for your help on this issue too (I was already star struck when you replied to help me last time 😳)
but I don’t have any mods in my game anymore. Just the current version of MCCC. Already checked that’s not the cause.
I don’t know anymore if the fact that no sim in the whole game has eyelashes is another bug or a mod attached to cc. Any ideas?
I’ll do the 50/50 obvs. I organise by folders so have been pulling them out one at a time but no luck so far with tracking the mystery mod or source of the 123 error. Im almost out of folders to pull.
so just hoping you or anyone else has a lead on the mystery of the no eyelashes or what might be carrying a mod - which cc is most likely - eg hair clothes build items food etc?

- crinrict6 years agoHero+@ChampagneBurst Some cc actually count as mods if some code was changed. I've not heard of anything 'attaching' to other cc that shouldn't.
Weeding through all CC is most probably the best way.
Do you get error 123 when you disable mods/cc entirely ?
