Please describe the patch or change you made. I added old saves to my game from an old computer.
Okay, so... I have a legacy family going on over two years now. I've even moved this save file over three different computers now. Today I decided I wanted to take out my old computer and bring some old save files to my current computer, just to see the legacy in its past. Well, this made my game EXTREMELY glitchy. Every save file I have is crazy laggy. I've removed the old save files, I've repaired my game, I even tried removing all CC and it's still glitchy. I've taken out my "The Sims 4" folder from the Electronic Arts folder and started fresh (with my saves and tray files), no luck. I'm kinda devastated because I feel like I just screwed up my whole legacy! My game was working fine before I added the old files. Once again, I have removed the old files and I added just the ones I had before adding the old ones. It almost seems like since I brought the old files into my saves folder it tainted all my other saves?? I know that probably doesn't make any sense but that's the best way I can describe it. Please help me, I am distraught over the thought of losing my legacy family! ☹️
Different saves really shouldn't influence each other. Probably something else going on
Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199
You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.
After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.
Just put back your legacy save and nothing else and see if it's any better. if it is, you can start putting back the rest.
- Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
- Tray Folder
- Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
- Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
- Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
- ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
- Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)
The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.
