Save file not loading in game

Hi,

I recently moved all of my documents folder out of OneDrive to my C: users drive documents folder and when I did this my latest save files are no longer showing up in my game but my older save files are. I noticed that my latest saves from January 29th look like this: Slot_00000003-MSI.save.ver1 (see photo for reference). I'm guessing this is where my latest save is but I cannot see it in my game. Can someone explain why? And am I able to restore these save files so that it shows up in my game? That's about 4 weeks of progress that is just gone!

  • @nicki_sims15  The issue is the -MSI in all the save names.  Sims 4 can only read saves if they're named in exactly the required format: Slot_ followed by an eight-digit hexidecimal number (base-16: digits 0 to 9, a to f) followed by .save .  These are all valid save names:

    Slot_00000002.save

    Slot_0000000a.save

    Slot_00000015.save

So remove the -MSI wherever you find it, and the saves should show up again.  If you get a warning that a file with that name already exists, cancel the rename and make sure to change the save's number too, for example you might need to change 00000003 to something higher.

The .verx extension denotes a backup copy of the save with the same number.  These are viable saves as well once you delete the verx .  So if your most recent save doesn't work, try one of the backups.
