hi, I have never used Sims 4 Studio before, what exactly r batch-fixes? is it a cc like file I drop somewhere is the game folders or..??? I tought id ask here intead of falling down the wrong hole on google , so I would very much appreciate if someone could explain to me wat they r.
some content I had used before keeps giving me the "script call failed", along with being invisible and just not showing up at all even tho all the settings r right and I don't have meshless recolors. then I decided id just replace this said content with some new cc aesthetically similar (after attempting to redownload the old ones in hopes it was updated but failing because it led to a page with viruses or just error 404 not found) but everything I newly download has the same error now (tho mostly they r surface cc so I guess that's the running problem...)
some other content however , clothing and makeup type content , that I recently downloaded wont show up as well or will leave my sim black and red with question marks all over; could it be that perhaps I downloaded so much stuff that somehow some things don't have "space" to show up?
if I recall correctly that was a problem with sims3 sliders so I wonder if sims4 has a similar problem? even tho the items r different than sliders so idk
my main question is wat r batch fixes tho
I just tought id contribute
First, I want to mention that Sims 4 Studio is a third-party program and not supported by EA, so just like cc/mods the program is used at your own risk. I have it though, works good for me, just make sure you download it from their homepage and nowhere else. you need to make an account on their homepage/forum to download it.
The "script call failed" can many times be fixed by S4S. If you do the batch fixes, the program will check all the files you have in your "mods" folder, and fix the code in them that does not match the code in the game. This can sometimes be needed after big game updates, where the game code changes, and the cc code needs to be changed too. Sometimes you can go to the creator's site (where you downloaded them before) and find an updated version. Other solutions are fixing them yourself (batch fix) or deleting them.
In Cats&Dogs and the update that came with it, many objects like beds, sofas, and counters, for example, broke. This might be because pets interact with them, so they changed the code.
If you download S4S, you find the batch fixes here:
The most important one is the one I marked, but depending on your problems and how old your cc is you might need more. I recommend you ask at the S4S-forum if you have more specific questions. But to use the batch fix, just click there and it will search through and fix your files.
The question mark thing is usually because you're missing a mesh. When you download a cc hair, for example, some of them are just recolours, and you need the mesh for the hair too. At the creator's page there is always a link to the mesh needed, so please look for that (always read instructions when downloading cc!). For those objects, you can either look for the mesh or delete them, as you will not be able to use them. Some might be fixed by using the batch fix, You can always try. (in the menu above, choose CAS instead of Objects)
If you want to know how to find which cc file is the one with question marks, google "find and remove bad cc" and there are videos and such explaining different ways.
