Sim gets stuck...leads to series of issues
It started with my older Spellcaster sim. He is the husband and father in a 4 sim household, one a normal sim roommate, with two black kittens. I tried to get him to pick up the kittens several times...

If a Sim gets stuck travel with him to another lot then back.
Do you have any Mods or CC? If so move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.
I don’t have any mods or cc installed in my game. The ones I have are saved in a backup folder outside the Sims 4 folder. I’m not sure if I tried the phone/travel option while he was stuck. Every time I tried to perform an action, it would not go through. He just stood there. Like I said before, I had to let him die and become a ghost to get him moving again.
