My sim starts to prepare food then stops. I click the cutting board to continue making but the sim acts like there is a barrier. There is plenty of counter space. Help, please!

Might be something corrupt with the household/save. This can happen when you use mod, and has a chance of staying even with mods removed. One of the risks with mods sadly.
You could try moving them to another house, just temporary, and see if it works in another kitchen.
But there is a chance the save file might be corrupt ☹️

Well, you can add content that other people created to have in your game. So if you want recolours of objects, other traits for your sims, or maybe a new set of clothes, you can download it for free. I guess that's the advantage. The disadvantage is that they can break your game and cause problems :P
