Sim won't go to work

I've downloaded the Get to work expansion and given my sim a job as a a doctor but when I click to join them at work, they just stay at home. It will say they are working and the patients will show up at the house but they won't go to the hospital. I've tried the other careers and the same thing happens. I've also tried restarting the game, repairing the game and checking for updates but none of them have worked.
