SIMS 3&4 GAME LAGGY

I have the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop thinking it'd make my Sims gaming experience better, but that isnt the case. I dont know what it is, my graphics arent all the way high. I have less than 20 CC (in the sims 4 game), I (think) i have enough storage on my laptop. When I play Sims 3 and I speed up the time, whatever my sim does is laggy. After a while of me playing it starts to freeze, then resumes and so on. Before when I first downloaded both games it said unknown graphics card or something so I googled that and I changed my Nvidia control panel settings for High-performance NVIDIA processor (if anyone knows what i mean) before it was 'Use global setting (Auto-select: NVIDIA GPU) My sims 4 start up takes forever to load.

Its just very frustrating when you dont know whats wrong and whats working and all you want is to enjoy your game. I watch all these youtubers and they experience smooth, no lag, nice graphic game play.  I WANT IT!!!

If anyone reads this and has any questions or is confused just ask and I'll help to the best of my ability.

    @okayshel  You will need more free space on your system device. Your going to have to add a data drive and reinstall this game to the new drive. A lone 256Gb SSD is not big enough for the casual Windows user. If you don't want to worry about insufficient free space (required free space is a complex subject) I recommend you get a larger (1Tb) drive. You will continue to have issues until you understand the need for free space for the operating system and applications (games) and if you are a casual Windows user I recommend getting a disc drive that is big enough to not worry about free space. You may have to consult a knowledgeable technician who can properly help you.

     @roberta591 With reinstalling the game to the external hard-drive, would that reset all of the families I've made? Ive actually considered buying one.

    @Phantomlover1717Yes, both are set to integrated graphics. I realized in my original post I had it set to something different. I just recently changed it to integrated graphics setting.

    @okayshel  Sorry for the late reply but storms and loss of electric has caused chaos around here. While an external USB drive will work they can (and sometimes do) change drive designation. This will cause the game to error. While not a critical problem most casual Windows users will not know how to correct this issue. As this is not a default setting that can work it is not with out issues. A USB drive can work well with data that is not part of another programs - music, movies, pictures, and other such files. This program can be installed to another location but it needs to be located at a location that will never change. This could be a storage device that is installed directly to the bus system like the SSD is installed. Many players do use a data drive but if you install the game to the conventional data drive the game will not benefit from the SSD. IMO if you don't understand what is going on you need to get a storage device large enough for a default installation. 1Tb drives are not that expensive. This why I say you need to consult a knowledgeable technician to recommend a solution you can live with. Once you deviate from the default installation there are pros and cons to every solution and depending on your knowledge of the Windows operating system some solutions may not be for you. My demo computer has conventional 7200 rpm hard drives in a raid 0 configuration and this has acceptable performance at cheaper then SSD cost. Getting a USB drive will probable have lower performance then a directly connected hard drive.
