Sims 4 - Crashing since new EA app / Nothing works, help!

Hi all,

I promise that this is not another 'My Sims keeps crashing' request & thank you for taking your time to help me!

So: Ever since we had to use the EA app to launch sims 4, it freezes on the final loading screen before crashing. I have read dozens of support forums and tried everything. Nothing I do seems to work.

I have wiped EA, Origin, Sims, Steam, GPU drivers off my computer multiple times & reinstalled on clean SSD's. I've ran all the diagnostic scripts and software. Nothing I do picks up any error.

I've tried running the game through steam and via EA app. It makes no difference.

  • Excellent, it's working now.

I've attached the most recent DXDIAG & Event viewer - I launched it on a clean boot.

Additionally, I've run windows memory diagnostics as the only change I made to my hardware was adding RAM. It was around the same time SIMS started to crash. However, no faults were found whatsoever.

Windows 10 has been updated & is now on a new M.2 drive. I also ran a repair of windows, no luck.

Let me know what we shall try next. Thank you again!

    Kind regards,

@BUCKTOOTH20021  I wouldn't consider a pass from the Windows memory diagnostic tool to be reliable.  A fail is probably accurate, but the tool doesn't catch all problems.

The gold standard here is MemTest86, testing each module separately and in multiple slots on the motherboard.  That can be tedious though, and given that the problem started when you added more RAM, the much easier test is to pull the new modules.  Even if this helps, that doesn't mean the modules are defective—the problem could be one of the slots instead.  But at least you'd have more information.

If you want to try MemTest86, here's how:
