Sims 4 altering computer volume settings when tabbing in

When sims 4 is open, I will tab away then my entire PC jumps to volume 50, I will lower it but then when tabbing back into game it will jump again to 50 again. The majority of the time it will change to 50 but on occasion it will pick a different number. The volume can be lower or higher than 50 but that does not affect anything. I also play with mods and have turned them off and still have this issue.

I have looked into my computer audio settings and sims settings.

  • @BUNNYMON5TER  When you launch Sims 4, is the computer volume always at 50, or does it stick to whatever you've previously chosen either in general or in-game?

@BUNNYMON5TER  I wonder if a third-party app is interfering here.  As a basic test, you can shut down anything in the Task Manager that doesn't need to be running.

The more thorough approach is a clean boot:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If this helps, you can selectively reenable services until you find the problem, then decide what to do about it: leave the service disabled, uninstall the app, dive into its settings to try to find out what's overriding your preferences.
