sims 4 exception breakpoint error, suddenly closing in live mode/mid-launch
- 3 years ago
@080223 There are two problems here. One is that your computer only has 4 GB RAM, which is either barely or not quite enough memory for Sims 4 and Windows these days, depending on which packs you have installed. Your computer will need to rely on the page file to store extra data that should be in memory but doesn't fit within the 4 GB installed RAM, but the page file is somewhat small and also almost entirely used at the time that you ran the dxdiag. So I would guess that the Sims 4 errors are out of memory errors.
Normally I'd just tell you how to increase the size of the page file and leave it at that. But this space comes out of storage, and your computer is quite low on free and total storage: 8 GB free and a 128 GB drive. Please try clearing as much space as possible. The Downloads folder is a good place to look for extraneous files, for example installers for already-installed apps or .zips of already-extracted files.
It would be great if you could get to 20 GB free; open a File Explorer window and click This PC to see the space on C. If you can't get to at least 15, leave things as they are. Otherwise, please increase the size of the page file as described here (option 1):

Set the minimum to 12000 and the maximum to 12288, save, and restart. But, and I cannot emphasize this enough, do not do this if you don't have at least 15 GB free storage already. Your computer needs some free space not used by the page file as well; you can't just let this change eat up all available storage.
Long-term, you might consider getting an external drive to handle spillover data, or even to hold Sims 4 if you don't have much else you can delete. Longer-term, it might be time to start thinking about a new laptop. Models with twice the RAM and storage, not to mention faster processors and graphics chips, are somewhat cheap these days, starting around $400 USD (a bit more in other countries) for new models. There's really only so much you can do with this particular computer.
