Sims 4 Files corrupted / unable to find saves / mods (pc windows user)

I have been trying to find a solution to my problem by searching but I cannot find an answer. Someone Please Help.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game to a different hard drive as my (C ) is full. I moved it to a (D ) drive however; I am getting weird files under The Sims 4 folder (route: This PC > Data (D ) > EA > The Sims 4
The files I found out are the packs and add on's (see picture attached). I did not have an Electronic Arts folder I had to make one in the path of reinstalling. In this folder had empty files for the game like I never played it before and a sims4 short cut back to my (C ) Drive with more empty sims4 files.

When I start the game none of my saves load nor does my mods and cc - I found my old files somewhere and moved them to the new file I made however still nothing. I think the shortcut may now be over running and is the real files for this game (however it is in the drive that is full). I also have tried to move the whole old files  into the new EA folder it makes itself as well, where the packs and add on's are in under The Sims 4.

Shall I back up my saves, mod and cc somewhere else and delete it all completely and start again or should I try moving the short cut folder to the new folder first?

- Many Thanks, V

  • @DeceptionV  While you can install Sims 4 almost wherever you want, the game will always store its user files in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  If you'd like this folder to be on your secondary drive, you'll need to use a symlink to tell the game where to look.  Here's a good guide:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2020/02/moving-windows-documents-folder-to-external-drive-via-symbolic-link.html

If the command to create a symlink doesn't work, try writing out the exact file path rather than %userprofile% .  You can find the full file path by right-clicking the relevant folder (Documents or Electronic Arts, depending on what you're moving to the secondary drive) and selecting Properties > General, then looking under Location.

If the command still doesn't work, please post a screenshot of the Command Prompt window so I can take a look.
