every time i try to log in to the gallery, it freezes up and then tells me that login failed. my initial loading screen is a bit laggy, could they be related? any answer you could give me would be appreciated. thanks.

I won't tell you where I live coz you don't know who you can trust these days. Well I had the same problem with Origins & I have to do auto updates on the Beta version. My mate says you can download the original version & it's free, but what is the catch & why is it free when most companies will charge you for using their services.
So unless Origins can release a patch & update to their sites with the Gallery then I guess there's not much we can do to fix it, & also the games Origin should make them available for consoles aswell not just for PC but also for all consoles. But the option to that will be up to Origin to make it available & the CEO's to let know on if they'll consent to it or not.
If there's any avilable options to make the site user friendly then post all comments to this page & let all of us know on what Origins have done to fix the Gallery, cheers!

Then check on your firewall and antivirus and make sure they aren't blocking the connection
What's the exact error message you're getting ?
