Sims 4 game appears to be unplayable

It seems for about 5 days to a week that I have been unable to play the game. When I would go into CAS, the categories as far as the clothes, hair, accessories, etc., would take forever to load. Now, I do have a lot of CC but usually the CC loads within a reasonable time. Lately, it hasn't been doing that and I've been given the blank pictures which makes it hard when I am trying to create a family. Now, it just seems as if the loading screen loads forever after clicking play game. Before every game launch, I make sure to delete everything out of the Sims 4 folder that has to be deleted (resource.cfg, localthumbcache, avatarcache, anything in the cache cachestr & onlinethumbnailcache folders). I realize at this point that I should run a DxDiag.txt and see if I can gain some insight on what is the issue. From my understanding, my computer and drivers were updated a few days ago so I know that can't be the issue.

  • @ChameleonPhoenix  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If the new save is fine, you can start adding your mods and custom content to the new folder, but keep testing in case the problem shows up again.  It's very possible that one or more of your mods or cc items are outdated and causing the long load times.

By the way, do you use Reason Antivirus?  I ask because your dxdiag shows a couple of crashes of an .exe that could belong to that program, so you may need to update or uninstall and reinstall it.
