Are you using any mods or cc? If yes, you should remove them and then try to start the game. You can also try to repair the game through the origin or try to remove your Sims folder from documents (before you do that, copy your folder on the desktop) and then try to start the game. There's can be a problem with your save.

- I do have mods and cc but I’ve never had that problem until I purchased seasons. I’ve also repaired my game numerous times.
