Sims 4 graphics really slow after downloading Horse Ranch HELP

Sims was working fine on my laptop before I downloaded the Horse Ranch expansion pack. Now it gets stuck on the loading screen then eventually get struck on the home screen. The theme music is still ...

    @Millamoo17  You can try playing in fullscreen mode with the in-game resolution set to match your laptop's screen: 2256x1504.  You can also try "windowed fullscreen" (i.e. Borderless) instead of standard fullscreen.

    If that doesn't help, you can try setting your DPI scaling to 96 (100%) rather than 144 (150%) as it currently stands, but that will make everything on-screen look smaller.  It shouldn't be necessary to do this; it's just that Sims 4 doesn't always respond well to the combination of an unusual screen resolution and an altered DPI scaling.  It's a limitation of many older games.  Here's how to change DPI, and you can always change it back if you don't like the result.

Thanks for that!! It seems to be working in the windowed mode just fine. 

Does that mean I need to play it like that from now on?
