Do you have a screenshot of the error message? I believe there are two separate messages for unrecognised cards in Windows.
You could try manually adding your GPU to the GraphicsCards.sgr file. Do you know the Device ID of your card? You can find it in the DxDiag of your machine:
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1B81&SUBSYS_33011462&REV_A1
The bits in bold and red.
Let me know if you'd like to add it and I can help you if you need it 🙂
Windowed mode makes no difference.
The error message just says the card was not recognised.
On DXDiag there is no Device Key mentioned. All it mentions on Display Tab is
Name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip: GeForce RTX 2080
DAC: Integrated RAMDAC
Device Type: FullDisplay Device
Total Mem: 16174MB
VRAM: 8010MB
Shared Mem: 8164MB
CurrentMode: 1920 x 1080 (60HZ)
Monitor: Generic PnPMonitor
HDR: Not Supported.

Ok. There are instructions on NVIDIA's site on how to find your Device ID here - https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2040/~/identifying-the-graphics-card-model-and-device-id-in-a-pc- 7 years ago
DeviceID: 10DE 1E87 37A71458

Great, thanks 🙂 You need to add the following line to your GraphicsCards.sgr file:
0x1E87 "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080" $cardLevelUber $resolutionHigh
- Locate the GraphicsCards.sgr file here, make a backup of it, and open it in Notepad - Program files(x86) > Origin games > The Sims 4 > Game > bin
- Add the line under the NVIDIA section so it looks like this:
Save and quit then open your game and see how it plays. Close the game and open the Config.log file in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. Near the top under
=== Graphics device info ===
check the Found and Supported values are 1.
