Sims 4 Minimized screen Not Responding

Yeah, the new problem with my Sims 4 game. My computer updated today, I had a previous issue with the game but it seemed like the update may have made it go away for now. I went to turn on The Sims 4 and when the screen loaded on it was a minimized screen. In the top left corner of the screen it said The Sims 4 (Not Responding) <-- and that message kept going on and off on and off. But the game still seemed to work. But because the screen was minimized I wasn't able to play the game properly so I turned the game off and on again thinking the screen would load normally but it didn't. Then I clicked the minimize/maximize button in the top right corner but all it did was make the screen minimize even smaller...that's it. So, I went to look for help. Someone suggested to disable Origin in game on the origin help menu and on The Sims 4 game itself. I did that and it didn't work. I clicked on repair game, that didn't work. So I uninstalled the game and removed all of the custom content from the mods folder then reinstalled the game back again...that didn't work. Then finally I got desperate and turned my whole computer off hoping this would finally work. The problem is still there... I don't know...

Incase anyone else has this problem enter into your Sims 4 game, then click the Menu > Game Options > Display Type > Fullscreen. I hope it helps you.

  • Could you try renaming the 'The Sims 4' folder in your Documents folder? Let me know how the game works after that, it will create a new folder.

So, just right click on The Sims 4 folder and select rename? Anything specific or just any name?

Any name is fine. After you changed the name, and reopened and tested the game, you can change that folders name back to 'The Sims 4', and delete the newly created one.

Ok. When I changed the name of the folder and turned on the game it wasn't in the minimized screen anymore. So I went back to delete the other folder and change the name back but when I did that and turned the game back on the minimized screen was back. So I thought, ill just change the name again and leave it like that. It worked again but I noticed in the top right corner of the game the (+) plus sign to make a new household was missing and also the slot that holds previously made games was missing to.

That's correct, those files contain your save files.

If you want to read a bit more about that: http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/backups/

So the problem is in that folder. I would suggest just moving files over to the new folder.

You can use the link above to see which files you want to move. Try testing the game with every folder you move.

So you know which one is giving you issues.

Should the sims 4 mods folder be completely empty or should it have something in it always named (Resource.cfg)?

I don't have anything in my mods folder but (Resource.cfg), That's all.

Ok, I think I figured it out. I went onto the game itself, went to Game Options and switched it from windowed to fullscreen. Thank you for trying to help phantomlover1717.
