@simmingonsixam Please find the full path to the folder Sims 4 is reading, as the game sees it. Here's how:

Compare it to the folder that contains your mods. If they don't match, that's your issue. And I understand that this setup worked before, and you probably know what you're doing, but it's possible that something changed on the Windows side, which the game then adjusted to, leaving your mods behind.
If you'd like help creating a symbolic link, please list the folder the game is currently reading and the path to the folder you'd like it to read instead.
thanks so much for the reply! when i go to game options > screen capture like it says in the link you posted, i find that (at least for my photos/videos), there is a new onedrive folder that the game is using as its path. the folder it is reading is "C:\Users\avama\OneDrive\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods". the path it should be reading is "D:\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods"

@simmingonsixam If there isn't a symbolic link in OneDrive's version of Documents, then Sims 4 won't know to look for your user data on D. If you're fine with OneDrive in general and just want to create a working symlink, use this guide:
The command would be this:
MKLINK /J “C:\Users\avama\OneDrive\Documents\Electronic Arts” “D:\Electronic Arts”
Or you could add The Sims 4 to the end of each path if you want to link the Sims 4 folder rather than the Electronic Arts folder. Make sure there is no existing folder with the name of the symlink you want to create in the location you'll be creating it—rename the current folder if necessary.
If you'd like to get rid of OneDrive first, here's how:
Then you'd adjust the first part of the command to reflect the folder Sims 4 started reading with OneDrive out of the picture.

i followed the instructions and copy/pasted the command you prepared for me, but it keeps telling me "local volumes are required to complete the operation".... any idea where i'm going wrong?

@simmingonsixam Sorry for the late reply; I've been very busy lately and fell behind with AHQ replies. Perhaps OneDrive is pushing all your data to the cloud. I don't know for sure because I never use it other than to test, but if you'd like to get rid of OneDrive, that should fix the issue. Just use the guide I linked, and then the command will need to list the current location of Documents. You can confirm that location with the reg query command in the guide.
