Sims 4 reinstalled itself and is taking forever

So my friend and i decided to play Sims 4 last night and it was already downloaded on my computer. But when i clicked on the icon on the desktop, it said that origin was busy and that i needed to wait until it was done with its operation. I thought that was odd so i went onto the origin icon and it showed that it was reinstalling. I figured that it was updating itself, so i let it load for about 20 minutes. Then 40 minutes past and it still said installing. When nothing happened we got a little impatient and decided to let it sit for a few hours. We had forgotten about it and fell asleep. So now,  over 12 hours later, I think, oh it must be installed by now, but nope. The game says the same thing it said last night, installing.

Any suggestions on why it is installing again and why it is taking so long or how to speed up the process? Anything helps.
