Sims 4 saves missing after origin update, but old saves are there?

i think i may be going crazy here, but hopefully someone can help me out.

i was just playing sims with my legacy sims when it crashed. i figured i needed to run a repair so i opened origin to do so, but i was given the prompt to update. i removed my mods and save files as this isn't the first time an update had whisked my saves to the darkest parts of my hard drive, so once i removed them i updated and repaired, then put the folders back. when i went to open the game again, it was as if i had just downloaded the game for the first time. i went and searched for my files and found something that looked like my saves but when i opened the game again, it was a save from March! it had to be wrong because i played not a few hours ago today and made sure to save when i noticed a bit of slowness in my game. i don't use OneDrive and i  searched my computer and found many saves, but they all seem to be from march or my cc autosaves from today but i have played for hours upon hours this week with frequent saves. is there any way to search/differentiate the saves to know which is the most current? i'm more than a bit confused and frustrated and would appreciate any help.

thanks!

  • @hunnybunbun90  How are you searching?  The most thorough way (short of using the command prompt) is to open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and enter Slot_ in the search bar.  If you let the search run to completion, you should then be able to sort the results by modified date, so you can look for the saves that correspond to when you last played.

If you only find save files with a .verx on the end, or the game won't recognize the ones that end in .save, you can use the manual method for recovering a backup save:
