Sims 4 sims are stuck, won't reset

Some background information first so you know what suggestions I've already tried.

I have ALREADY TRIED:

  • Disabling my mods/custom content
  • Clicking 'Repair' on the game from the Origins app
  • Uninstalling and then re-installing the game
  • Using the 'resetSim' cheat code in the in-game cheat code console
  • Having the members of the sim household travel to another lot and then return
  • Calling EA help by phone and requesting assistance

So, basically, my problem is that no matter what I do, my sims will constantly become stuck. Usually, I can play the game for about two minutes before they get stuck on a single action, and then they will continue doing that action to no end. No progress will be made on the action, time will continue to pass, and their needs will continue to decay.

When I use the resetSim cheat, they will stop performing the action, but they will refuse to start any new action or obey any command.

I have tried every method that has been suggested to me, and none work.

The problem started a few days after I installed The Sims 4 Parenthood. I don't know how to find out whether this has something to do with the problem. If it turns out that it does, I want to know how I can remove Parenthood and get a refund.

  • Could you try renaming your The Sims 4 folder in Documents? This will give you a clean game, see how the game runs.

If it runs fine gradually move over folders and test the game, see which folder causes the issue.

I don't understand how that would help. Don't I need all of my folders to run my game?

And if I don't, then even if I find out which folder has the issue, how would I fix it?

You can try renaming the folder and testing the game, if it works we know it's a file. If it doesn't we'll have to look further in to the issue.

  • I couldn't have said it any better than how the person(original person who began this post)  described this. However, I tried the suggestion that she got and nothing worked. So, I will suggest one back to EA.

    1. Please get a update and patch to us. We have been waiting for three months. I just want to state I have a laptop. I just want to make sure that is out there.

    2. I don't use custom content. So, I know it is not an issue.

    3. I know my computer does meet the requirements needed to play this game. In addition, I have a contract with geek squad ( because I am not a geek) and I have my regular tune-ups which do include diagnostic and monthly cleanings. In addition, I have antivirus protection that is set correctly. I never have issues there and if I did, Geek squad would help or EA ( depending upon who's area it is) but for those of you who are reading this, be sure all your drivers, windows updates, softwares and what nots are all updated in additon to trying all that is on these forums. I did and it did help some. For a while . That did not last. I then was instructed to rename the files again and loose all my sims again. I am tired of getting the run around and on this crazy fruit loops merry go round. It isn't jiving anymore.

    4. EA with all the upmost due respect and long lasting loyalty ( since 2009 I've been with you) I couldn't be more disappointed. We, no.. I am not a tech geek. I do not have the money to pay one and the things listed to do to problem solve for to fix this game are scary and crazy. An average person would have no idea how to do what is asked. If a wrong file or a wrong erase of a file for the game was done it would cause major problems. A person has to be a tech geek these days to play your game and that to me is not fair at all and I am sorry but I am tired of it and super frustrated that I have to pay lots of money for a game that continues to have issues. Please patch the game so we can all get on with what we love. Okay! Happy Holidays and God bless! your long devoted Sim fan. I was there even in Sim 1 somewhere. LOL

  • Ok, I had the same problem. My sim got tired and won’t do ANYTHING. Like, I told them to go to sleep, I told them to go to the bathroom, I tried everything. I tried the “Reset sim” Command and multiple other things and that won’t work. It says my sim passed out while they are still standing and making movements. I tried using other sims to try to talk to them, and yes. They did talk but after that, they just stood there in one place. I don’t know if it’s some kind of bug or what, but it’s really getting on my nerves.

I'm closing this thread to stop it being necroed.

If you have any issues with Sims 4 please make a new topic about the issues you are having and what kind of steps you have tried to solve it.
