This is likely because of the amount saved in that long term save. Sims is very prone to lag.
Some things to check:
- How many played households do you have?
- How many photos & paintings from reference are on your lot?
- How many items are in your Sims' inventories?
- How elaborate is your build? How many clutter/decorative items are on your lot?
If you can reduce any or all of these things, and maybe also clear your notifications, you might get some improvement. But otherwise... yup, that's Sims, unfortunately.
