Hey! i just recently made the switch to the ea app from steam/origin because i was having issues with my pc. I have bought expansion packs and dlcs for ts4 but ea app wont let me download them? i have to open steam and redownload steams's version of ts4 (which no longer works for me) to actually manage/download my expansion packs because it says i have to manage them on there? Does anyone have any idea what i should do?

@LiaCyclonee What antivirus do you use? It's possible the program is blocking Sims 4, so check its recent actions or threats or whatever category the user interface offers. If the antivirus is the problem, set exceptions for TS4_x64.exe as well as Steam and Origin or the EA App, whichever you're using. You may need to repair the game in Steam after changing the settings: right-click on Sims 4 in your game library and select Properties > Local file > Verify integrity of the game files. If this doesn't help, try uninstalling the game through Steam and reinstalling to a different location, specifically a new folder you create for only this purpose. You'll need to change the default game library within Steam to that folder. Use a folder that's in the root folder of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but don't use C:\Program Files\Games.

@LiaCyclonee This is the way Sims 4 works: any content you buy through Steam needs to be installed through Steam. There's no way to transfer your packs to the EA App.

What about the Steam install doesn't work? If you're seeing an error when trying to play, please either list its full text or post a screenshot.

Okay thanks! I'm receiving the error that says ' There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall your game.' I have installed it through steam, origin and only seems to work through ea ( though i then do not have my packs)

I have this issue too. I do not want to download ts4 on my pc AGAIN on steam just to play one DLC? I regret buying that dlc on steam so much now. That's 20 extra gb of storage I do not have right now. There is also no fix as I contacted EA and Steam and Steam won't refund me and EA can't transfer anything. I'm stuck without a DLC that I paid for! 😕 So mad.

@MiuAisha You don't need to have two copies of Sims 4 installed, just the one from Steam. So the first step is to uninstall the EA App version. After you install the base game and whichever pack you bought through Steam, you can sign into the EA App and download all the packs you own there. The Steam and EA App versions of the base game are identical and take up exactly the same amount of space, so the only difference in free storage will be the size of the pack you own in Steam.

Alternately, you could wait for a sale and buy that one pack from EA. Expansions are often as low as $20 U.S., which might be a reasonable price to avoid the inconvenience of two game launchers.

This doesn't work for me unfortunately. When I uninstall the Sims from either (Steam or EA), and then try to launch one, I get a popup that says I need to install the Sims (on whichever platform it's uninstalled)

@mychemphan When you install Sims 4 from Steam, are you also launching it from Steam? If not, please try it now.

If launching a Steam install from Steam does produce this error, please post a screenshot for reference. I haven't heard of this particular problem, but I can ask around.

@puzzlezaddictso if we want to re-download the DLC on the EA App, are the DLC files that have been downloaded via the EA App must placed in the Steam folder or in the default folder?

@pepesmegalodon The first step is to install Sims 4 itself through Steam and make sure it is NOT also installed through the EA App. Then if you download only your DLC, not a second copy of the base game, through the EA App, the DLC should automatically be installed into the Steam folder.

If that doesn't help, please let me know what problem you're seeing and which packs are affected.

@puzzlezaddict I already have installed the base game on Steam only and have linked my account, but when I want to download my DLC on the EA App, it says "Something Went Wrong", do you know how to fix it?
