Sims 4 stuck on loading screen after installing Cats and Dogs

My game has been stuck on the loading screen for over 5 hours while I was at work and still has not loaded and I just installed cats and dogs yesterday. I have no custom content in there right now bec...

Reset your files to factory settings.

  • Make a backup; copy your The Sims 4-folder from C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to an external drive or somewhere else on your computer, for example, your desktop.
  • Rename the The Sims 4-folder in C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to The Sims 4_backup

  • Open your Origin client and go to My Game Library, right-click The Sims 4 and choose Repair.

  • Start the game, make a new save, and see if the error is gone. 
    (The game will have created a new The Sims 4-folder in your documents, this is supposed to happen)

    • If yes, continue
    • If no, post a reply telling us the error is still there
  • Start putting folders back in the new The Sims 4-folder. Observe! After every file/folder, start the game and make sure it still works, before putting in the next one.
    • Options.ini - your game settings
    • Saves - your old saves. The sub-folders are not needed. If putting these back causes problem, try putting one back at a time.
    • Screenshots
    • Custom music - if you have any
    • Tray - your library objects; like lots, rooms and sims
    • Mods - your mods and cc, might cause problems when putting back

If putting back one of the folders was problematic and you did not work it out, please post a reply and we'll see if we can find what your problem is!

I have been checking files for hours I'm not about to reinstall my entire game and wait until God knows when to be able to play it. The last time I had to download the game it took 3 days to download over a DSL connection. That being said I've already taken all the the folders out and putting them back in. I've done it one by one for several hours now. It's 2 in the morning on the East Coast. Every time there's a new update I have to go through this because he a doesn't give two s**** about anybody but the almighty dollars they collect from us

    None of my instructions has anything to do with reinstalling the game, do not worry.


    There are many East Coasts in the world, If you're interested in time zones it's 9 in the morning in Sweden, both on the east and west coast...😇

    So without any of the old folders, with a new save, the game did not work?
