sims 4 unable to start because game data is missing

I just downloaded the EA app and installed The Sims 4, after I installed it, the error came that stated:

Unable to start:

Cannot start because game data is missing or damaged.

After this I tried to repair the game, didn't work it just gave the same message. I also tried cleaning the cache didnt work. After that I deleted and reinstalled the game.

What should I do?

  • @C-Metheuver  What antivirus do you use, and have you set exceptions for Sims 4 (TS4_x64.exe) and the EA App?  If not, that's the first thing to do; run another repair when you're done.

If that doesn't help, please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Sims 4:

    • Rename the Sims 4 folder you moved out of Documents\Electronic Arts (that has your old saves inside it) to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
    • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the EA App with Revo as well.  I don't have instructions for it, but it should be straightforward.

Reinstall the EA App, and before installing Sims 4, disable your antivirus if you use one.  Create a new folder on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but C:\Program Files\Games is not.  When you install Sims 4, select this folder as the destination.  You can install only the base game, to save time, if you want.
