Sims 4: what are "challenges"?

What are these build challenges?  How in the world is one to find them???

I like to build and I've uploaded more than 100 things since October when I started uploading.  I have noticed since then that Maxis periodically faves things and most often they are entries to these challenges that I have never heard of.  I would like to participate, but it seems to be a private thing, that I can only know about from their hashtags that show the entries (after it's all over!). So, how does one find out about these?  I'd love to know, thank you!

Oh, you can participate in them if you want to, or create your own so others can participate @blueberry118! 🙂

They are not private, here some examples of threads in The Sims forums where you can find building challenges regularly:

There are hundreds of other challenges, but that should give you a starting point 😉
