Sims 4 won't launch through ea app

Hey

Alright so, I used to play sims 4 through Origin and never had any problems but ever since the move to the EA app sims 4 has never worked for me. I download it, open it up for it to crash after like 30secs. I don't even get past the loading screen. I've repaired the game, uninstalled it and reinstalled many times. I've followed many youtube videos which ended up with me deleting my desktop. I've read so many of the topics on here to see if they help but I am stuck. My driver is up to date, I check it regularly. I don't have any mods or cc. I just really wanna play the game

So I've tried

- Repairing the game through ea

-uninstalled ea and reinstalled

- read heaps of stuff on here and tried many of the solutions but still no help.

Any help would be appreciated

  • @Izziepls  That means that whatever the problem was, it's contained to the folder you moved.  So you'll need to test the files inside that folder.  Start with your mods and custom content, if you use any; you can use the 50/50 method if you have a lot of files to go through.

Once you've done that, you can transfer the contents of saves and Tray, plus Screenshots or Recorded Videos if you want to save these.  (They don't need to be inside the Sims 4 folder either; you can open them from elsewhere.)  The other files don't need to be transferred, as the game will generate fresh copies.

  • @Spudly_Wudly  If you haven't already, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

    Hey!

I tried this and it did not work. I plan on getting a new pc and hopefully it'll work then. I recently upgraded my ram and my d drive and wonder if that maybe did something. I will be upgrading something else soon and hopefully it might fix it. I did the move the sims folder out of my documents awhile ago and it still just didn't like it. I checked to see if my pc was blocking it as well but got nothing. Not the end of the world. I did uninstall it after i tried that and then went to reinstall it but it was taking like 6 hours so wonder if something went wrong.

    Thank you tho for helping

@Spudly_Wudly  I'd still be happy to look over a dxdiag if you provide one.  Just in case it wasn't clear, running a dxdiag isn't a troubleshooting step; it's a way to gather and share possibly-relevant information.

For the slow reinstall, is the EA App stuck preparing, or is it downloading at an unreasonably slow pace?  What location did you choose to install the game?  Please post the full path, for example this is the default location:

    C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4
