Sims 4 won't launch with all my CC

My game won't launch with all my CC (2000+ items). When I click on the Sims 4 Icon to launch it, Origin launches as if the game has closed. I just downloaded some new CC so I just figured that I probably downloaded some bad CC so I removed all recently downloaded items. The game still wouldn't open. I never had this problem before so I turned to the wonderful internet for help. I read that some people just had to removed all the CC in their mods folder and launch the game to create a new file then put the CC back. I tried this and it didn't work. I then wondered if it wasn't the mods and maybe a different problem, so I just removed all the CC to see if it would even launch. It did launch so I know it has to be something with the CC. I searched through my CC to see if there was anything that looked funny but everything looked okay. In my frustration I decided to just uninstall the game and reinstall it in hope that whatever was wrong would be fixed, losing all my saves, but no of course not it could not be that easy. I then started taking all the CC out again and putting it back into the folder in batches. The game will only launch with only 78 items in the folder. I'm out of ideas. I really love playing the game with CC and want to be able to keep on playing with all that I have. Is there anyone else who has experienced something like this? I would really love some help so I can keep on playing. Thank you.

  • Hi @disgruntledbean

There is no shortcuts when it comes to cc and mods, simply put they cause havoc when broken and non-updated mods are in your game. There's also the question of the pc requirements of the game that (mods/cc would also affect) and these change with each new pack, and your reference that it launches with fewer would point in this direction I would think (I have 1000's of cc/mods).

Whenever a new pack comes out especially like the new seasons or prior, you need to check your mods ie: Mod Conflicter is not a definitive/sure fire fix, I have it and it is useful but not conclusive. There is also new pc requirements to keep note of.

Also, I usually enjoy a new pack by starting a non-mod game to check things out as well

    Spoiler

Mods & cc are well known to cause various in-game issues please check for updates to them / where you found them; do this also > after any sims update or adding a game pack, SimsVIP also do a regular post for people who use cc; on which ones are broken or now updated; All on the one page too, and the best list. Also the EA Forums do a regular post for the broken cc.

Apart from culling your folders one by one, or the  50/50 method, to narrow down the broken cc or mod, that is all you can do, (restarting and checking your game each time) you'll simply need to find the broken mod/cc it and remove it.

Hope this helps, let me know if you still have problems.

  • It could be some CC, not just new CC.

-- Go through your CC folder

-- Select up to 500 mods

-- Right click and drag them onto your desktop

-- Play the game with those files removed.

    -- Does the game work?

-- Yes? Check through those individual mods.

-- No? Move those files back and repeat until found.

-- Also, try fixing the game via origin.

Good luck fixing and reply whenever possible!
